It is a known fact that harder exercises help you to loss the weight and they keep you healthy and fit, but a new study suggests that a little exercise like walking also help keep you fit and reduces the risk of dying at young age by 33 percent for next 3 years.
People, who were suffering from kidney disease, reduced their risk of dying by 40 percent with this simple exercise, as per findings of journal of American Society of Nephrology.
It is suggested in government’s diet guidelines by Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans to perform 75 minutes harder physical exercise like swimming, biking, or running and 150 minutes of moderate exercise like brisk walking can reduce the chances of getting diabetes, obesity and other chronic diseases.
But now researchers wanted to know the effect if lightest forms of exercises like walking on health, said Dr. Srinivasan Beddhu, a specialist at the University Of Utah School Of Medicine. According to him, we already know that a person sitting for a long time will obviously make his health poor. But here we want to know if light intensity work can really help to keep the body fit and healthy for a long period of time.
In this study, he cleared that light intensity work like casual walking can help the people regarding their health and can reduce the risks of dying. On the other hand, low intensity activities like writing or standing for some purpose are not enough to have health benefits.
In order to perform this study, Beddhu and other researcher friends collected the data about accelerometer from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey and analyzed it. In this study, more than 3,500 adults representing the common people including 380 adults suffering from Kidney disease were monitored. In next 3 years, about 137 persons died because of multiple causes. In general, people who did exercise more remained healthier during this period of time and were less likely to die.
If a person wants to see the effects of exercise, he should do 30 minutes light exercise daily. According to Beddhu, he cannot specify the type of exercise and its duration to get better health results but he knows that lighter exercise if perform from a few minutes to hours can play an important role in keeping your body healthy and active. In addition to this, lighter exercise will be quite beneficial against kidney diseases.
